$34,000 Raised at 2025 Used Book Sale!
Talk about community power! This year’s Used Book Sale brought in an incredible $34,000 to support home-building projects right here in Franklin County.
Over 60,000 donated items, from books and puzzles to games and movies, filled the sale tables, all thanks to the generosity of local residents. Every dollar raised will help Habitat purchase much-needed materials for homes currently under construction in Chambersburg and Greencastle.
The event was truly a team effort. St. John’s United Church of Christ hosted the sale and rallied volunteers, BCM Payroll Services sponsored the event, and Patriot Federal Credit Union opened its branches for donation drop-offs. Big thanks also go to Friends of Legal Services, who provided supplies, sorting space, and even more helping hands.
“This is what the power of our community working together looks like,” said Mark Story, Director of Advancement for Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County. “We’re especially grateful to the volunteers at St. John’s and to the Cumberland Valley Business Alliance Ambassadors for their energy and support.”
Nothing went to waste – leftover items found new homes with other local nonprofits, and the rest were sold in bulk.
Save the date: the next Used Book Sale is set for October 23–25, 2026!
